Day 8 St Nazaire to Roscoff

Just caught the beautiful sunrise this morning over The Loire after a peaceful night. We were somewhat sceptical that the van would still be in one piece when we got back from the restaurant last night but were pleasantly surprised that all was in order.

I've included a few more pics of the fishing nets so you get a better idea of what they are like. Sadly none of them were being used this morning.

With a 4-5 hour trip ahead of us we headed up towards Roscoff, mainly on the coast road to soak up the last views.

It was lovely and sunny again today but still a cutting chill in the breeze.

On the way out of the port we caught another glimpse of the two new cruise ships, one looks nearly finished and the other with a bit more to do. We didn't drive past that one as it's in the secure area of the port.

There are lots of tours you can do around the port and a really nice touch is the markings on the road showing the ships that have been built in the port and the year in which they were built.

Gareth did a great job navigating the 'skinny' bridge again and excitingly, we saw lots and lots of Gendarmaries with guns at junctions and roundabouts approaching the port.

Our exit route from St Nazaire took us past the Airbus factory which is vast, we didn't realise they had a base there 🤔.

The Britanny landscape changed from coastal to forest to rolling green hills and even their equivalent of Exmoor, high bleak moors.

We stopped a couple of times for refreshments and to check out the hypermarkets for treats to bring home and are now sat in the port at Roscoff waiting to board the ferry.
