Day 4 Donastia San Sebastian

After a lovely sleep and a quiet night we have decided to stay here again today, we're not sure we have seen enough of this beautiful place.

We set off walking for La Concha Bay on a different route but came out at practically the same place as we did yesterday 😂.

The beach seemed to be busier today with lots of water sports taking place. There was surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and quite a few people swimming.

We watched for a while as a poor guy in a capsized sailing dinghy fought to get it upright.

By the time the RIB got to him to help he must have been shattered!

From the prom we worked our way round and into Constitution Square. If you zoom in on the picture you can see numbers above all the windows. Apparently this where they used to hold the bullfighting and the numbers indicate viewing boxes.

The noise must have been immense. We had a drink and some lovely tapas at one of the bars before aiming for the headland. To be honest, I am sure we went up and down the same lanes quite a few times 😁.

Walking towards the Aquarium we found a few lovely fish restaurants tucked around the corner. We couldn't resist so stopped for a delicious fish lunch. Today is our 6th year anniversary of meeting ( after remembering yesterday we forgot today 😂) so we will use this lunch as our celebration meal 😁.

For starters we had a salad with a dish of clams in a lovely creamy garlicky sauce 😋😋😋😋 followed by grilled sardines and battered tiny squid. Whilst we sat eating we had two heavy pourdowns! Lucky for us we were comfy under the terrace awning with no compulsion to leave just yet.

Thinking we may have seen the last of the rain 😂 we left the restaurant and walked up past the Aquarium, up the steps and out onto the path around the headland.

Just as we emerged from the covered stairway it started to pour again. I did try the brolly and decided it was not a good idea 🌧️. So we put our hoods up and zipped up our coats....with having to wear a mask in public all you could see was our eyes! Haha.

In keeping with San Sebastian's trend for stylish buildings, we came across the most impressive public toilets! 😁 At first we weren't sure what the building was so had to investigate 🤔.

We walked back into the old town just as the heavens opened again!!!! This time it was very heavy and lasted for a long time. We took cover in a bar under the canopy and then popped into a souvenir shop for some retail therapy.

Strolling back to the van we took our last views of this lovely place, we will definitely be back. On the off chance that one of the local bars may have been showing the England game, we stopped at a few only to realise that Nedal had won the tennis so all TV's were on him!.

Back at the van we just missed the beginning of the match but listened to the rest on radio 5 live, thank goodness for the BBC sounds app 💓 and well done England.

So this evening we are resting our sore feet, having bread, cheese and Spanish olives for supper washed down with a beer and a Basque cider 👍😋🍺.

Today we walked over 10km and clocked up over 17k steps. You can see from our Google timeline that we seem to have gone round and round.
